QF Insider Seeks To Improve Services
January 20, 2010

Our members this month take the opportunity to welcome our newest “insider”; Qantas cabin crew member “737″. The newbie asked our members to contribute methods in which to improve the service received by frequent flyers on Qantas flights.
The comments and recommendations came in thick and fast from our members, who were all impressed by the flight attendants eager to please temperament and “can do” attitude.
High on the list of our member’s requests was greater consistency in the service and product offerings on all flights. One member notes that on some routes, flight attendants will have a definite presence in the cabin and will cater to passengers every whim. Whilst on other flights the flight attendants will disappear into the gallery and will only emerge from behind the curtain when called.
Another much-trumpeted expectation was the availability of drink top-ups, particularly on longer flights. Also if spare newspapers make their way into economy class from first class, they will be met by grateful and welcoming recipients.
One member adds that for frequent flyers on domestic flights it is the ground experience which could be improved rather than in-flight services to enhance passengers flying experience. Priority luggage, late boarding, Qantas Club access and delay handling are all seen as the essential perks of being a Qantas frequent flyer.
Whilst most members showed a certain level of indifference as to whether they wanted to be personally welcomed on the basis of their status, many admitted that if the welcome is genuine and personalised it can be a nice touch.
