Cheap but Chic Hotels

Cheap Chic Hotels

Shabby Chic is back this week with our members discussing where to find the most inexpensive hotels in the worlds most expensive cities. The criterion is simple: a bug free bed and a bit of security for about $US100 per night.

The verdict is that Tokyo can be surprisingly affordable if you know where to stay and do not venture too far from the main subway route.  New York is notoriously expensive but there are some surprising bargains if obtaining points is not on the agenda.  London is tricky and the $US100 per night budget seems hard to achieve based on our member’s suggestions.

Our members have also suggested a number of web-based tools to get some quick and easy advice on locations and suitable hotels.  Website, Priceline.com is getting some serious plugs by our members and is for those travellers who are not in it for the points.  Tripadvisor.com has also been suggested as well worth a look.

Overall there appears not to be huge variety in hotels that hit the middle-ground between hotels and hostel. If you’ve stayed somewhere that fits the niche we would all like to hear about it HERE.
